Frock on a Friday - Hell Bunny Asuka

Due to popular demand - cough, cough Sarah Misfit - here is my new dress. And me in it. Yes indeed, expect rivers of blood and plagues of locusts and all that soon. I won it in a blog giveaway from the delightful Betty Bee, and the dress was supplied by Soho's, who stock all kinds of rockabilly/alternative/goth type gear. Nice isn't it? It has a massive twirly skirt and the print has koi carp, skulls and scary geishas with sewn up mouths. Also rather fabulously, the dress I'm wearing is available in sizes 6 to 20. The sizing comes up large due to the shirred elastic at the back - I'm in a 10 which still has plenty of room in, rather than the 12 I sent back for being way too big. Bear this in mind if you buy, although it makes a pleasant change! Hell Bunny do lots of other 50s shaped dresses with amazing prints, I may well add some more to my wardrobe now I know about the label. Thank you very much for a brilliant prize Betty.

This is the one half decent picture. And I still had to crop a Thomas the Tank Engine tent out to my right. I need Sarah's photoshop skills to put me atop a unicorn or something.

Trying to get one photo which didn't make me want to rip off my own arm so I had something to beat the camera with was traumatising enough, so don't be expecting outfit posts too often. It doesn't help that Mr FHCS - the one with a decent camera  - smirks the whole time and only takes about 9 pictures before admitting defeat. I have pointed out that if he was a wildlife photographer he'd be lying on his stomach in a hide for 17 hours waiting for a rodent to scurry past, but he claims this would be preferable.

Dress - Hell Bunny - Asuka Print

Petticoat - eBay

shoes - not on my feet

Like The Grudge, only with her hair up

Have a lovely weekend y'all. I'm off to my nephew's Christening. At the last one I attended boy2 was confused by the priest's robes and kept bellowing 'Is that the King? Where is the King going?'. That's when he wasn't chanting 'Evil, evil, evil' through the rest of the ceremony, having heard the Godparents being told to renounce it. Sigh. He always makes an impression.

Lakota x

I hope you've all been and entered my giveaway. You can win lovely jewellery from Gemmipop Designs.

  1. Nice dress! I have a couple of Hellbunny items. The elastic back is forgiving on my matronly 'assets'.

  4. Gorgeous!'Tis always a pleasure to see you. I love a bit of Hell Bunny too....fab prints.
Your boy is a treasure and I do think small boys should make an impression.
The one...and only..Christening we took our kids to was probably the reaso we were never invited to more. ne of my boys then aged about 5 asked questions throughout the whole ceremony and at acrucial point shouted out 'Don't drowned that baby! I'll tell God!'
    Have a lovely weekend.xxx

  6. Looks lovely! your boy2 sounds great (reminds me of the time we took my little bro to York Minster, a man on the tannoy came on saying they were going to do a service and we could stay to pray if we wanted, my bro shouted 'It's God! God's talking to me!' when he was shushed he decided 'If it's not God it must be the Prime minister then!' Classic)

  9. I had a feeling you were going to be showing yourself soon and you did. Yay. What a cool dress. I've won a few giveaways in my day but never for clothes. Will you wear it to see the king? Or is a 50's Grudge dress not appropriate for the occasion?

  10. I think I'll wear something else for the Christening, besides if I wore it with the petticoat I'd have difficulty fitting into the pews at Church!

  11. Show us your face next time, LOL! No, only kidding, I always have to take about 60 photos before I get any okay ones...you're not alone!

  13. There's a shop in Wyc that sells Hellbunny but I'm pretty sure they only sell the tiny sizes and they guy that runs it looks like a bit of a ponce. Anyway, that is the most amazing pattern! I really love it! Must be good and not buy one! You look great so stop worrying! Your son had me cracking up with his description of the priest!

  17. Gorgeous dress! Hell Bunny do some absolutely beautiful dresses, my favourite has to be the purple crow print evening dress.. it is out of this world beautiful! Most of them have sweet heart shaped necklines too which is the best neckline for the boobies!

Your son sounds hilarious! I find stories my friend tells me about the things her son comes out with so amusing, although I guess it can be embarrassing at the time!

Love your candy stripe nails!!! xxx

  18. You look fabulous and I love the dress! Congratulations on winning it. You should do more outfit posts - love to see what people wear. I was dreading doing them too at first because I'm shy and I *hate* having my photo taken, but I made myself do it and I don't mind it now. Plus I reasoned that the chances of anyone leaving comments along the lines of "You're hideous, how dare you insult our eyes with your image?" were pretty slim :)

Your son sounds amazing - just think of the fun you'll have embarrassing him back when he's older!

  21. What a lovely dress!
I have given up on asking my husband to take pictures of my outfits, he huffs and puffs to much and I can't be arsed with the huffing and puffing. The self timer at least doesn't annoy me!

  22. That dress looks gorgeous on you, such a perfect fit and the felt corsage lifts it to another dimension. Your hair is fabulous, you'd give Krista's bouncy curls a run for their money!
Jon's a very badly behaved photographer, his limit is 10 pictures, too.
Boy2 sounds hilarious, can I borrow him? x

  27. What a gorgeous dress, and look, it's Lakota looking shy but oh so beautiful! Goodness knows why you don't post pics of yourself more often. I agree with all the above comments about using a tripod and timer if you have a recalcitrant photographer. That way, you can take a ton and delete the majority if you want to, without anyone huffing at you. And it really is fab for the self-esteem!
The dress fits you beautifully, it was a great prize to win.
Enjoy the christening, keep all your boys under control... If that's possible! xxxx

  39. I laughed out loud at your description of Boy2's behaviour at the Christening! The print on that fabulous dress is EVIL, but in the very best way possible. In general, men are terrible at taking outfit poses for blogs - they just don't get it ;)
