Grrr.

Hi folks, sorry I've been a bit quiet so far this month. Some real life stuff of various kinds has been keeping me busy, one of which is wishing all kinds of doom on the person who pulled out of our house moving chain the day before we were supposed to exchange contracts. Really, thanks for that. We didn't need any of that money, or the have anything better to do with the last 6 months of our lives. If it wasn't for the annoyingly prevalent American usage of the term 'a lego' - I'd be tempted to spend my evenings making this, and then send it to her as a parting gift. Every evil lair needs cross-stitch on its wall.

Pattern available on Etsy

Maybe I should just continue making the Voodoo pincushion doll found here on Indie Spotting.

Aw, he's kind of cute isn't he?

Or perhaps I should just channel my rage into a few blog posts. I'm sure there must be something else that's annoyed me recently. [For thrilling updates on my mood swings, see Facebook.]

Anyway, you're all lovely. I shall be visiting your blogs and catching up soon. Just don't be posting about your new house.

Lakota x

  1. All I can say is "sorry." Remember that things that go bad make room for better things to come.
If only they did not take so blanking long in getting here.

  2. Well let's just hope their next Sh*t is a hedgehog on top of a Christmas tree - or on a milder note as my old dad used to say - Hope their jellies never set! Seriously though I don't understand people who pull this kind of stunt, you must be gutted. Hope things start to look up for you, take care, Linda xxx

  7. What a w*nker!!! I don't see how anyone could do that to another human being whilst being fully aware of all this packing and planning that would have been going on on your part. Such a big let down, especially since you would have been paying solicitor fees and other such things! Grrr!!!

Before we bought this house we did put an offer in on another house which I instantly fell in love with. It needed absolutely nothing doing to it and the price was brilliant, they accepted as we did offer the full asking price and I was as happy as happy can be.. then a week later they pulled out and dashed my hopes with a rock.. then we found this house which happens to be just across the road from the place we wanted.. by the time we moved in here someone else was living in that house so the previous owners obviously sold to someone else! They didn't even ask if we wanted to make a higher offer as we could have went up by 10k! But noooooooo.. now when I see old Mrs.Craggs emerging from her house I scowl.

    The woes of house buying..

I wish for this liar of yours to have nightmares for weeks! xxx

  8. What a pain in the butt!!! I'd be wishing them much worse than stepping on lego.

  9. Oh Lakota, that sucks big time!

I was wondering what was going on...you must be feeling like the proverbial. I would be.

    All I can say is:
    I'm really sorry
    I'm thinking of you (all)
    AND
send you a packet of Caramello Koalas (I'll need your address again though)
    Hang-in-there x

  14. Blugh! I can completely feel your rage, i'd be the same and would be using my Scorpio powers of revenge...better get plotting!
I really hope this set back means that something even better is out there for you. No new houses going on here - thanks to a currently lazy hubby and a house full of junk! Scarlett x

  17. Ouch, feeling the rage. Hope you get it sorted soon. But also feel the rage re. "a Lego". Seriously, what is that about? It really bugs me too.

I love your amusing 'shabby chic' pins on Pinterest. Hoping you're going to be writing a blog post to accompany them. Those Christmas trees were frightening.

  18. Bugger - not good. We almost had that with our last move but fortunately it got sorted. Its so wrong and I hope karma bites their bum big time.

  19. Noooooooo! So sorry to hear this. I was just thinking about you last night and presumed you were quiet because you were in the throes of house moving. Can't believe you've suffered this set back (well I can). It's a bugger of the highest order and I deeply sympathise.

Sending lots of positive thoughts that a lovely shiny new chain free cash buyer comes your way soon. Good luck with it all.

PS I can send you some extra bubble wrap if it helps (my fave de-stresser).

  20. Dammit, sorry to hear about your non-house moving, that really sucks.

Re 'a lego', I heard on something the other day (maybe on TV) 'you could pair that with a strappy sandal' - what, just the one?! I don't know what the term for this is (singularisation?) but it seems to be becoming popular.

  21. Bloody hell, Lakota. That's awful. Sending positive thoughts your way. Oh and a big bear hug. xx

  22. Shame on them. Sorry to hear about that, I hope they stand on a PLUG - that's the only thing worse than lego.

  23. GAH!!!!!! Mother Hubbards!!!!! This has happened to me - and I think I *did* wish a plague upon them. But - actually - it tunred out for the best for us because we can now afford the mortgage in touch times - whereas we would have been on the street if we had bought a house. Silver lining and all that.

But - I feel your pain. It fucking sucks :(

  24. O God what a apain so sorry to hear your news. Just remember what goes around comes around she will get hers some time soon. Loving that doll it made me smile. Stay positive something good will come of it. Everything happens for a reason and all that. dee x

  25. Well that's blooody crap, isn't it? What an arsehole. I would be wishing far worse than the admittedly irritating pain of treading on Lego (no "a" for me. I refuse. I refuse to refer to a trouser or a jean either. I know - so old-fashioned, it's shameful.)
You know, house buying/selling just seems to be the most fraught process; so many people have nightmares, it's a wonder anyone ever moves. I do hope you find another more reliable buyer. xxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  26. So sorry sweetie, I know loads of crap things that can happen when moving house. You're not alone! just before we moved house our buyers decided they wanted money from us for the rent on their flat for a few months because the moving date was earlier than expected. Another one, when we were about to exchange on this house we came for another look around to check it out etc and found there had been a massive water leak through the house (it was empty at the time) and nearly every room was dripping! sending love and hugs to you.

    Bee happy x
    Have a delicious day!

  27. Hi my dear-oh so sorry to hear this, very frustrating and annoying, I do so hope your move gets back on track for you very soon ;-) xx

  28. I'm so sorry about your house chain. That's beyond rubbish. :(

I agree with you regarding lego. As a former English teacher who has spent many hours trying to explain the difference between "countable" and "uncountable" nouns, it actually makes my teeth hurt when I see "a Lego". Lego is like grass (stay with me on this). As a whole, it is uncountable. A lawn of grass, please, not a grass. A brick of lego please/a lego brick please, not a lego. I'm getting off my soap box now... Breathe, Emma. Yes. I'm calm. xxx

  29. I thought your blogging silence was due to your house move. What a bloody disaster. I'm so sorry to hear this and shall join you in sending that biatch some suitable bad karma.
"A Lego" wtf? That's a new one on me, I thought the singular term for individual Lego was a Lego brick. xxx

  31. Really sorry to hear about this - it must be so disappointing. House selling is pretty vile all round. Does it help if I say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? Nah, didn't think so.

  35. That's a bummer :( But you made me laugh so hard at "every evil lair needs cross-stitch on its wall".

  36. Pox on them. Pah and bum.

(Am I allowed to talk about my woes with the flipping bank? We've got an offer accepted, no chain, but the bank are being arsey for no clear & obvious reason, without actually giving us an answer. I promise I won't talk about the possible house though.)

  37. I feel your pain, we had so much trouble with the people buying our house a couple of years ago. The estate agents were awful aswell. Definitely NOT moving again (luckily we bought a bungalow so no problems with having to downsize when we're old and decrepit!)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh dear! that's awful! although really, lakota! you should send her that cross stitch (ahahahaha sorry didnt mean to laugh on the words and the "every evil lair needs a cross-stitch on its wall!") but i understand a little bit more here after reading the comment from mimmy and tilly. The voodoo doll pincushion is just too cute!
