Words...

Do you ever have one of those weeks days where everyone annoys you and everything you encounter seems designed to irritate? I just read the words "we're well jel"  in a trashy magazine article relating to Gavin Henson's upcoming stint on American TV show The Bachelor (my own fault, my friend buys them and they exert a pull) and decided that come the revolution, the writers of  Heat, Reveal and Closer will be first up against the wall. How come they're employed in journalism and I'm a housewife? The rest of the pile seemed solely concerned with the antics of orange buffoon and professional father Peter Andre, and the dozy cast of The Only Way is Essex. Anyway, sometimes you just want your jewellery to laugh bitterly in an ironic fashion for you - so I made these:

Ok, well actually I made an 'L' for Loo and one for me, but I couldn't resist making the 'O' to go with them. I have a whole set of these wooden scrabble tiles, so if boredom sets in again tomorrow I may well be sporting 'MUM' and 'DAD' knuckledusters on either hand ;-)

'
Also suitable for when I'm in a more teenage and less trenchant mood <3

Any other suggestions for 3 letter words? I'm thinking 'MUD' for the Glastonbury goers!

  4. My vote is for WTF!

Something I like to exclaim at least once a day, especially when reading the ents section of the Daily Mail online.

  5. Hilarious - Blogging rings LOL! Can you stretch to 4 - letters? You can make the traditional LOVE HATE fists. Your nails very pretty and I love that nail varnish. xxx

  6. I have 'one of those days' more often than not. Such magazines are soul destroying and I fear for the future where girls may end up speaking with forked tongue in the style of this talent-free journalism. Then again, I find myself like, totes jel of your jewellery and nails hun! SHOOT ME!

  7. LOL!!! yep i too have one of those days and it's hard to describe or write it on the blog as i just wanted to pull out my hairs and scream! hehehe but those scrabble rings are sooo cute! 3 words eh? MAD instead of MUD? hehe :)

  8. Your post made me smile as yesterday was 'one of those days'. I sat for over an hour listening to my hairdresser talk about her boozy weekend with a copy of'Love It' - this really has to be the worst magazine i have ever picked up.

  9. Loved this post (some interesting suggestions for more scrabble tile rings...) and have really enjoyed looking back over your last few - great holiday photo on the beach and ooh, those lovely books! Thanks for commenting on my blog - will be selling the sewing kits in the end (trying to get my website sorted at the moment).

  10. Definitely, WTF. Love it!

Still loving the ring, btw. Note that in my post I didn't have a photo of me wearing it. My hands are far too scabby and wrinkley - boo hoo! Well jel of yours!

  11. "GRR" would be appropriate for going round the supermarket on "one of those days";) x

  12. I quite like the retro 'luv' - and you have the 'l' already! xxx

  14. I know the feeling of one of those days!

There was a headteacher on the local news saying pretty much the same thing about 'sleb' culture creating a generation of girls with no more ambition than to look like barbie and pull a footballer. It's very sad.

You could have 'BOG' for Glastonbury and you can interpret that however you want. You could always add 'OFF' on the other hand if it's one of those days x

  15. "...of orange buffoon and professional father Peter Andre"

This has cheered me NO end.

And I would so wear a scrabble piece with "C" on it in the form of a necklace #justsaying

  16. You're looking at those freaky f**king dolls again in that photo, your rings need to read 'may the power of Christ compel you' but you'd need a few more fingers for that!

Nice work, I need me some Scrabble letters but can only find knock off ones from China on eBay :(

  17. Oh my dear, don't get me started on the dross that is some 'popular' journalism these days! The lowest of the low, in my opinion, is Take a Break, which I affectionately name Take a shit!

Great rings - maybe I could have OMD for Oh my dear (or Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) or even IMO for In my Opinion!?

PS Did you say you were roadtesting a new manicure - was it shellac - and what was the verdict? Your nails look swell any road!

  18. well
    a) I can't believe I now know Gavin Henson is going on an American reality show and
    b) love the scrabble rings - perhaps fash for all four fingers!xx

  19. I know a bargain hunter who has "Walk AWAY" tattoo'd on his fingers.

There are times I wish I could have rings for Drop Dead, being as I am too polite to say it.

  20. I hadn't thought of doing that with my Scrabble tiles - clever idea.

If you can bear 4 rings on each hand, you could go for the old 'Love' 'Hate' thing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. For potty training days you could have 'WEE' and 'POO'.

    Yeah, I know, I'm gross!

  22. Love it! ;) Can I suggest left, for days when your asking directions?!?!? LOL x

  23. This really made me smile.

I would wear WTF or of you would stretch to another letter LMAO.
By the way you look like you've lost part of a finger in the first photo, that can't have helped your mood...

  27. I love these rings! I've sold my first one! I think the three together look great! Obvious other ones would be 'love' and 'hate' if you want to look really hard lol!

  31. I am also a huge fan of WTF too. 'LOL' always makes me, well, LOL because my parents think it means 'lots of love' and end all their emails 'LOL Mum and Dad' no matter what bad news they are conveying.

  32. Hey,
You know I didn't originally click on this blogpost as, I'm gonna be honest, that doll face on the computer screen scared me! But the rings are fab, yes I'd have GEM of course, or BOO!

  34. I'd vote for MOG, because it's a running joke with a friend of mine. And you could do the same pack for an OMG set to the valley girls amongst us.

ps - how have I only just found your blog?! We both read so many of the same blogs - I must be very dim at noticing other people's comments!

  35. Arrggghhh! I hate all this abbreviation crap so much!
Those trashy magazines are awful, I'm not entirely convinced that their 'journalists' are that stupid though.
I think maybe they're a bit more normal and actually they're trying to speak in a way that they think will appeal to the general public...
... Then again I'm probably just being delusional and they are just that annoying!

  36. Looks like WTF wins out L! Am I really, really getting old or are the mags I pick up in the doc's surgery the cultural equivalent of a lobotomy? I know they don't perform them in the looney bins anymore - at least they didn't last time I was in there - but I always walk away feeling less intelligent despite having spent the past 10-20 mins reading that dross. Amazing how they can do that eh? Mass mind control!!!!

  37. these are so cool, I think they would sell like hot cakes!

  39. ooooooh thank you Lakota for the tips and the comment on my nail polish! i've noted down the tips, so when next i go to boots, i gotta buy the nail varnish! i just did one coat as i think it came out too much on the nail and it starts bubble up or spread unevenly on the sides of the nail teehee...but it's fun as i did my first blow air on the nails to make them dry faster haha
