Hello! Hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend. I've been absent from the blogging world for a week - but I have been busy, so hopefully you'll forgive me. I've just had a great weekend in the Suffolk countryside with friends, I've been trying out more jewellery ideas, organising an upcoming giveaway, and collating all the swap information. Incidentally I'm closing the swap in two days, so if you still want to get involved, sign up NOW.
Anyway, I've been making earrings again - using feathers this time; don't try this in the lounge unless you want your carpet to look like fantastic Mr Fox has paid a visit to the chicken shed - and wondered what the rest of you have been up to. Have you made or done something new? Finally completed a project you've been working on for ages, or at last tracked down that elusive item on your thrift list? Have you bought something you love, taken an incredible photograph or just got your kitchen how you envisaged it when you moved in 12 years ago ? Maybe you have just hauled 13 bags of clothes to the charity shop and are sitting stunned in front of a newly spacious wardrobe? Whatever your 'ta-dah!' moment is - short post or detailed how-to - I'd like to see! Fabulous outfit posts count too of course.
Anyway, here's my latest earring attempts - as promised!
Boho feather earring - love these graphic spots
[its partner somehow ended up in my coffee and is less photogenic, I may have to make another]
'I laugh in the face of superstition' peacock earrings
I had a pair of these years ago with added beads on each frondy bit.
[I'm not sure the world's brightest feathers require extra bling]
Link up - what have I missed?
Lakota x
PS. Like sweeties? This post was mostly written while eating rhubarb and custards. Yum.

LOVE the earrings. I'm dating myself but I remember when feather earrings were all the rage in the early 80s (I was young, tehee).
ReplyDeleteMy ta-dah moment was winning an auction bid and getting two fab vintage purses!
Feather earrings are so tricky - it looks as though you've done a pretty spectacular job though lovely, those peacock feathers are especially stunning! :-) How on earth the other one ended up in the coffee though . . . !? That being said - I somehow got mashed potato behind my ear at the weekend!
ReplyDeleteJem xXx
I dunno, I hadn't realised until I had half drunk it! I was going to blame my hosts' chickens until I realised the bedraggled mess had a hook on the end of it...
Deletesweets are my heroin.
ReplyDeleteI did sign up for the swap I think
I achieved nothing today but often tuesday is my painting day so if you do this again I might've done something xxx
Love the earrings!
Well done you, I especially like the peacock earrings - I'm after a pair myself. I'll certainly join you in ta-dah tuesdays when I actually finish a project!
ReplyDeleteOooh I have always admired peacock feathers, great job on the earrings. Sadly my thrift list is still very much that- a list! xxx
ReplyDeletelove both pairs of earrings, they look really good. I wouldn't know where to start with making jewellery.
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are a triumph my dear! My ta-dah moments are fairly few and far between these days, though I'm supposed to be making stuff for the baby. Just getting over a nasty bug that has wiped me out a bit too. Anyway, will live vicariously through yours and others' for now thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove your earrings SO MUCH!
ReplyDeleteYou did a spetacular job on them. I need to find myself some peacock earrings now!
The earrings are gorgeous! I've finally cleaned my bedroom after far too long, so that was an achievement!
ReplyDeleteBut Monday was better, given that I'd managed to bag myself a date for Thursday! So my ta-dah tuesday was more me wandering around with a great big grin on my face and a dreamy look in my eye...for some reason I feel quite optimistic atm about it!
Hey Lakota
ReplyDeleteI do oh so love your feather earings, they seem so fiddly to make and I am impressed. I only get as far as stringing beads together for necklaces when it comes to making jewelry for myself. I happened to have posted about my latest crochet blanket today, so I have added to your linky list if thats OK? Great idea, I hope to linl up again soon xox Penelope
Love those feather delights dangling from your ears!!! I'd like a roach clip STAT :) for my hair of course :)) Those are beautiful and so light which would be my very favorite thing about them.
ReplyDeleteI have been LAZY lately, but busy traveling and hanging with friends, does that count? Summertime actives will include working on my "outfit" for the Oregon Country Fair, it will be crazy bright and pretty skimpy since it will be hot here by then. Trips to the nursery so I can fill my garden with much needed color and trying all sorts of new drink recipes with fresh fruit from Farmers market.
Cheers!
Krista
Love the earrings! A couple months ago I cut up a sweater to make a wreath (which turned out to be an epic fail) and the fuzzies from the sweater ended up all over my brand new dining room table. Last time I ever do that!
ReplyDeleteOh my lovely Lakota I've missed you!! I've been waving my arse about in public at a vintage fashion parade organised by our Kitty ... it was SO much fun - the arse-waving and the vintage shopping and general malarky. I made a double-sided headband for those of us on a budget or packing light for a holiday (yes, headbands are a must on holiday). I LOVE your earrings SO much!!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteOhhh the earrings look great Lakota! I've been toying with ithe idea of ordering some feathers to have a go with...
ReplyDeleteLove the earrings! Thanks for hosting linky thingy!

I love those earrings, they look great. I always wanted to try my hand at making feather earrings.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I do like the look of feathers peeping through hair.
ReplyDeleteI've been making lots of greetings cards, so maybe I'll link up next week.
Time for an earring giveaway? :)
Oh yes, do. I would give some away but I am not yet confident enough in their construction and don't want to offer people flimsy nonsense which will fall apart!
DeleteI love your feather earrings, I want some, too.
ReplyDeleteFab idea for a linky-thingy, I've added my granny curtain hot pants. x
Lovely feathery earrings! Peacock feathers are just a little piece of heaven, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteOh God, I haven't done anything worthy of a Ta-dah! for... years, it seems! I will try to work on that and join in, I promise. xxxx
I love feathers; those earrings are stunning! xo
ReplyDeleteYour feather earrings are very cool! We've been working on a few projects here but nothing is complete yet. My Spanx arent that tight cause they were my mom's and she is bigger than me. I just use them to smooth me out if you catch my drift.

Love the spotty feather in particular. Shame it is now missing its mate - or did you dry it out? Also enjoying seeing what your fellow bloggers have been up to. My Ta-dah moment was selling a (very) few unloved bits of gold jewellery and getting £300. RESULT!
ReplyDeleteOooh feathery nice earrings, Lakota
ReplyDeleteWooohoooo I made it! :) :)
ReplyDeleteHey there - thanks for your comment on my blog, just to confirm, I'm in new zealand:D
