Giveaway winner...

Hello and apologies for my absence this week, have been busy with the kids and also trying to sell our house and buy a new one in a completely different area. So far I have been reminded that estate agents lie through their teeth -"You can't hear the road inside" means "The roar of the M25 is deafening from the garden" - and been surprised to discover that some people don't think to remove the 'erotic' nudey pictures of their very much younger Filipina wife before the viewers come round. I thought the one of her in the hallway where she was wearing only a t-shirt was a little risqué, and that was before I spotted the naked photograph of her on all fours which was proudly framed on the dressing table. Strangely I couldn't concentrate on the fitted wardrobes after that.

Anyway, just popping in to announce the winner of the Stall 21 giveaway. Congratulations to...Bex Smith! Can you please email me your details and I will pass them on to Stall 21.

Back to regular posts soon I hope!

  1. Bloody hilarious!! It can be a bit of a shocker to see how other people live - the agent must have been cringing inside. I sold my house early this year and am putting off buying another - can't stand the thought of the agents breathing down my neck and harrassing me.

  5. For some, those snaps would have been the deal-breaker. "We'll take it, for the full asking price. As long as the pictures STAY".
Good luck with the house hunting/sale. Stress will hopefully be minimal. X

  6. phew, you don't hang about do you - you said you wanted to move after the riots, and voila - on the market. hope you don't have too much competition - have many other "for sale" boards gone up since?
the pervy photographer's house sounds very (un)desirable - wonder if we'll see it on house doctor as one of those that never sold?
hope you soon find a lovely house, not too far from lots of fabulous charity shops of course! x

  7. Trashsparkle - we had actually been debating it anyway, to be honest I don't mind it round here really, we have everything we need, it's just a good time to move if we can with the kids at the age they're at. My husband in particular is concerned about the boys having their teenage years here, and I suppose I can see his point.

The worst thing about the nudey photos house was the fact that his teenage kids lived there too - can you imagine how mortifying it must be to see those pics of your mum/stepmum? Oh, and they had a gazillion of those teeny crystal ornaments shaped like animals on every surface of their living room.

  8. Hahaha! Now that would have been a talking point! Maybe the owners thought the nudes would make the prospective buyers remember the house long after the initial look around haha! That is quite bizarre though!

    Congratulations Bex! xxx

  9. Reminds me of when we were househunting a few years ago and viewed a house complete with pet tarantulas in situ....we ran away...very fast! I’m with Lucy anyway; I’d make the nudey photos a condition of sale.

  11. I guess they misunderstood the estate agent's instructions to strip away all personal effects in the house!

  12. Ha! Oh my gosh - those nudie pics!! I would have been laughing so hard. What are people thinking? I used to work setting up appointments for a real estate company and there was this one guy who I had to always call and say, "Go around and flush the toilets" like he was a three year old child.

    Congratulations Bex!

  13. Classic! Oh dear! It reminds me of the time an old farmer up the road showed my kids and I a wooden hand carved rocking horse in his bedroom. His wife was there, as well as two very big calendars of triple GGG models. Tres embarrassing! I'm sure every time he talks to me he talks to my chest!

  15. Aww congrats to the winner! hahahaha i cant believe they just forgot to put down those pics?? maybe they though who's viewing the house is some kind of a "Modelling" agent so she might get a part on something? hahahaha i really really want to move to a new house but sadly not at this moment as my house right now is so run down that i think it's unsaleable (is even a word?) hehe

hope u find the perfect house! x susan

  19. *guffaw* So funny! We are getting our house "decluttered" and ship shape to put on the market and will hopefully be looking for a new house in no time - i look forward to having a nose at strangers decors, it was the most enjoyable bit about buying a new home, although when we bought our house I did fall in love with the previous owners vintage styling and was a tad shocked when we got the keys to see just the shell :o)

Well done to Bex - great prize.

  20. brilliant! so funny, you really cant trust them at all, they are just the same when you are tryiny to rent a place, the best one i had was in Brighton in which the flat had a "family sized bathroom" (the door banged on the side of the bath and you had to close the door to get to the loo!!) and a "double bedroom" (quite literally a room with nothing else in it apart from a double bed wall to wall..). dear oh dear!

  21. Naked on all fours huh? Wow, thats not the original part. The original part is displaying for all of your family and potential home buyers to see. I would cry if that was my mom.
